I used to be a little anal about how my mail was organized. I’ve recently adopted the more popular approach of filing mail into the “Trusted Trio” of folders:
It does require diligence, but I find that it’s working for me. Sometimes it can be a little tricky deciding the categorization of an e-mail, but I think the best approach is to err on the aggressive side. That is to say, archive iffy e-mails. If it’s not iffy, it’s usually a clear cut case for filing in the “follow up” folder.
